Garimamay, the brainchild of Mrs. Garima Garg Chauhan, a rehabilitation psychologist based in Chandigarh, India, embodies dignity and sophistication. Garima's vision for her clothing brand, which is a part of Grace's Secret, is to empower women worldwide through culturally rooted and tradition-inspired attire.
Growing up in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, known for its royal heritage, Garima developed a deep appreciation for clothing. After settling in Chandigarh in 2011, a city known for its vibrant Punjabi culture, she felt compelled to bring the exquisite Bandhni textiles of Rajasthan to Chandigarh, aiming to infuse the city with the regal richness she experienced in her upbringing.
Garima's professional journey as a mental health professional further reinforced her belief in the profound impact clothing has on an individual's mood and confidence. She recognizes that clothing is more than just fabric; it's an expression deeply rooted in human psychology, touching the senses and influencing behavior.
Her family background also plays a significant role in her passion for fashion. Belonging to the Agarwal community, Garima's mother's talent in stitching and her husband's lineage in tailoring have been influential. She fondly recalls her mother's words, "Tum kapdo ka dhyan rakhoge to kapde tumhara dhyan rakhege" (If you take care of your clothes, your clothes will take care of you), which she now understands the profound meaning of.
Garima's husband hails from a family of tailors, with his mother and sisters being experts in stitching. The family has a proud history of making Jodhpuri Band Gale ka Coats, a garment known internationally. Their family background instilled in her a deep pride and appreciation for quality craftsmanship and design.
Garima officially launched Garimamay on June 13, 2023, starting with an online store featuring Bandhni dress materials. Over time, she expanded her offerings to include a variety of designs and styles, catering to the evolving needs of her customers. Her goal is to create a strong bond with her customers, understanding their needs and desires to provide them with customized clothing options that suit their style and preferences.
Looking ahead, Garima plans to incorporate western power dressing into her brand, aiming to capture an international audience while still showcasing the richness of Indian clothing.
